Our Commitment to a Cleaner Community
In our ever-evolving commitment to being better stewards of this planet, please consider not using plastic/disposable bottles.
We strongly encourage you to fill your own bottle or glass directly from the tap! We pride ourselves on our pristine water supply that is sourced directly from a very deep 350 foot well. The well is tested routinely to ensure purity.
We compost items from the kitchen to use on our fruits, vegetables herbs and perennials. In addition, all 27 acres are pesticide and chemical-free, and we use eco-friendly cleaning products throughout the house and on the grounds.
We believe in supporting as much local, small business as possible. Dollars spent in the community stay in the community and nurture the community.
Yonah Mountain Farms
We’ve partnered with Yonah Mountain Farms to bring our guests fresh, pasture-raised eggs and sausage to enjoy for breakfast during their stay. Through regenerative agriculture, Yonah Mountain Farms has restored The Stovall House pasture with multi-species rotational grazing. When you stay with us, you can enjoy seeing our animals, meeting Joe and Hollie (our farmers), and eating a delicious breakfast with breathtaking views.
First Generation Farmers
Our journey in agriculture began when we decided to move from the Atlanta area and head for the country. At the time we didn’t intend on becoming farmers we just wanted a change of pace. One thing we looked forward to more than anything about our move was being in the middle of all this farmland and having access to high quality food direct from our neighbors. As it turned out what we were expecting wasn’t reality and we could not find what we were looking for. It wasn’t long before we realized that if we were to obtain the quality of food we were looking for, we would have to grow it ourselves.
Guidance & Education
As I began to learn more and more about animal husbandry through numerous blogs, books, and articles I was blessed to be led to the work of several popular stewards of the land such as Joel Salatin, Greg Judy, and Alan Savory. I began to devour as much material from these guys and others like them as I could. Great information about regenerative agriculture and working with nature by following the examples laid out before us in creation. The more I learned, the greater the affirmation that the agricultural methods I was studying were in line with how our Creator intends for us to practice stewardship.
The Future of Farming
Four hens and a couple of heifers is what we started with. I moved those girls around our ten-acre lease every day as we slowly added more chickens, then pigs, then more cows. Before long we were out of land, but it was only the beginning. Just a couple of years into it and The Lord blessed us with more land to manage and we were now up to 25 total acres. To God be the glory and we give Him thanks for leading me on this path. We truly believe he intends on using our family to aid in the restoration of this land through proper stewardship without the use of so many things that have gone wrong with conventional agriculture.
Our Pasture Raised Meat
We raise our animals a little different than most conventional producers. Fresh grass, insects, grubs, spring water, plus a non-GMO and soy free supplemental ration is what gives our birds a healthy advantage. Fresh air and sunlight plus plenty of room combined with daily moves to fresh, well rested pasture allow us to raise drug, chemical, and antibiotic free animals. Below are the meats we have available to purchase:
- Pasture Raised Chicken
- Pasture Raised Pork
- Eggs, Pasture Raised Hens
- Grass Fed Grass Finished Beef
- Grass Fed and Grass Finished Lamb
- Pasture Raised Turkey
